Sitting pretty

Ella decided to skip the - yawn!- rolling over stage and went straight to sitting up. Personally, I never got the whole deal about rolling over. Sitting up is much more fun. After months of lying flat on your back staring at the ceiling, it's a whole new perspective on the world. And Ella lunges forward with a vengeance too - almost ready to crawl. Not bad for a 7 month old!

So it goes

There are days when I feel so unbelievably lucky to have these 2 little people in my life. When I feel blessed to have such a perfect family.
Then there are those other days.
Those days when the uppermost thought in my mind is: "WHAT HAVE I DONE!"
2 kids. And I am their mother. The single most important person in their life. I have to raise them right. Make sure they grow up into kind, compassionate, confident and loving adults. The thought is enough to send me into spasms of sheer, blind panic.
Shit.
How exactly am I qualified to do this?
Some days, I have to remind myself that I'm the adult and they're the babies. Resist the urge to stomp off to my room and slam the door or throw a tantrum.
Which just proves my point.

A hair-raising experience

Before

After

With Rowan's first haircut seared into my brain, I was prepared for histrionics. Tears. Screams. Major drama. Complete mayhem in the salon. But Ella was the epitome of calm. She all but whistled while Amanda, the same girl who gave Rowan his first haircut (and lives to tell the tale), did her thing. We kept waiting for the screaming to start - but nada.

I was proud of her.
