Shoe-shopping

I always find shopping for shoes fun - but shoe-shopping for Rowan for the first time today was just too exciting. (What has become of me?)
We bought him a pair of sandals that will take some getting used to, but he seemed to like the idea of wearing shoes.

He's enjoying walking more and more - finds it highly amusing, in fact.

I ought to take a page from his book and start walking myself.:-)

He's talking the talk and walking the walk. Well, almost.
In Rowan's regular vocabulary:

Deer Rowan

A deer found its way into our yard today. As usual, Rowan yelled, "Baoooo!" but then he looked again and saw that it was a really big " Baooo" and started bawling. He was actually terrified. I tried not to laugh as I comforted him.
I found myself a little worried today again about his being so small. Will he get picked on? Every kid gets picked on for something or another, I suppose. You get teased if you're too fat, too thin, too short, too tall.
The world is a tough place. It's good to remember that it's also a happy, wonderful place.
We went for a walk after dinner and Rowan was so happy to be out in the fresh air, watching the birds and the trees. Then as usual we checked the mail, hung out on the steps for a bit and came in.

The day that shall live on in history

Monday, June Five, circa Two Thousand and Six.
Let us engrave today's hallowed date in gold! Let us inscribe it into the deepest grooves of our brains so we shall never forget the momentous event that occurred this morning!
ROWAN WALKED.
Yes, Rowan Gokhale took his first ever steps today. Not one, not two, but 5 steps.
And not once, or twice, but several times during this great day.
I'm SO glad I was there.
